Description

The Aerodynamischer Park is located in the northwest of the Humboldt University’s university quarter on the campus in the Berlin district of Adlershof. The park gets its name from three distinctive buildings: the Spin Tower, the Soundproof Engine Test Stand, and the Large Wind Tunnel. These historic structures were built during the 1920s and 1930s as parts of the German Research Institute for Aviation (DVL), which was based at the Johannisthal airfield at the time. These industrial monuments commemorate the first German commercially operated airport, which was in use from 1909 to 1952, as well as the aforementioned research institute established there in 1912.
