Badesee Gürzenich

The Dürener Badesee, a former lignite open-pit mine, now offers a wide range of recreational activities across 35 hectares of water. The 600-meter sandy beach and spacious lawns invite you to relax. Sports enthusiasts will find a water skiing facility, a water playground, pedal boats, and swimming islands with diving platforms. Two beach volleyball courts and spaces for badminton, table tennis, and basketball complete the offerings. The lake, continuously supplied with fresh water from a small spring, impresses with its natural self-cleaning process. Thousands of aquatic plants provide biological filtration, ensuring excellent water quality. This quality is regularly monitored and meets EU standards for bathing waters. With a maximum depth of 11 meters and gently sloping shorelines, the lake offers a safe swimming experience for families. The lake's capacity is designed for 10,000 bathers, guaranteeing plenty of space for relaxation and fun.
