Description

The Barbarathermen show the largest floor plan north of the Alps – a sprawling ruin you can easily picture as a 'giant bath'. 🏛️

As part of the UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, the remains are important Roman witnesses – ideal for telling you stories about ancient Trier.

  • Huge heated rooms and pools – a cross-shaped Tepidarium, Caldarium (ca. 20 × 30 m) and two pools (each ca. 13 × 23 m).

  • A newly laid visitor path with information panels offers close-up views of the wall remains.

  • Model reconstruction in the Rheinischen Landesmuseum – to compare model and ruin.

  • Large Palaestra north of the entrance – a spacious courtyard used as an ancient exercise and play area.

  • Built in the 2nd century AD, used until the end of the 4th century.
