Baumberger Sandstein Museum

Description
The Baumberger Sandstein Museum invites families on exciting discovery tours through Havixbeck and to the Longinus Tower. These guided tours are free and designed for groups of five or more. Children and parents can explore local natural and cultural history together.
Baumberger Sandstein, often called the "marble of the Münsterland", is a fine-grained, soft sandstone with more than a thousand years of mining history. It appears in historic castles, churches, and sculptures – bringing regional craftsmanship and history to life for the whole family.
The museum displays its permanent exhibition in a listed farmhouse. There you'll find fascinating fossils, artistic stone mason works, and insights into natural history as well as the art of stone carving. A former hayloft also transforms on special occasions into an atmospheric space for special exhibitions and concerts that offer families cultural variety.
