Description

Here on the "Holzer Pfad" at the Wustbach, you can explore 10 stations to experience what a logger had to do in the mountain forest to bring in the wood. Back then, there were no machines, and the work was hard and dangerous. The felled wood was carried down to the valley by hand. One of the most important tools for moving the logs was the "Sappie." Draft animals and cable cars eased the work somewhat.

Now it's your turn! Step into the role of a real logger in the Allgäu mountain forest of old:

practice felling trees. The ball has to reach the top!

try to turn the tree with your feet

at the sawing station, you can show your skill

with the Sappie you can move the tree

test your strength at the tree cable car

train your team spirit by pulling a log

You’ll also find interesting facts about the mountain forest! Do you know what the mysterious markings on the trees in the forest mean? Or how to tell the age of a tree? You’ll find answers to these questions and much more right here on the Bergwald-Spiele-Weg.

At the cozy picnic station, you can enjoy a well-deserved break with your whole family.

Those who still have enough energy can try the downhill course near the Holzer Pfad with their mountain bike. But only those skilled in biking should attempt this ride!
