Blücherpark
Description
Blücherpark is a green space located in the Bilderstöckchen district of Cologne, within the Nippes borough. The public park was created between 1911 and 1913 based on designs by landscape architect Fritz Encke. It is considered the first municipal park serving the former industrial suburbs of Ehrenfeld and Nippes in the northwest and north of Cologne. The park covers an area of 18.4 hectares today. Blücherpark is bordered to the south by the park belt, to the west by the A 57 highway, and to the north and east by residential neighborhoods situated between Äußere Kanalstraße and Escher Straße. The park is divided into northern and southern halves by Heidemannstraße running east-west. In the north, there is a sports field, and in the south, a pond. The park is named after the Prussian Field Marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher.
