Description
The Breitkopfbecken, also known as Paddenpuhl, is originally a natural ground depression now used as a stormwater retention basin in the Berlin neighborhood of Reinickendorf in the district of the same name. The body of water is surrounded by a green space and a playground. Before the green space was created, the Breitkopfbecken was called Paddenpuhl [Low German for "toad pond"]. The name of the nearby settlement Paddenpuhl originates from this body of water. The name Breitkopfbecken is derived from the music publisher Bernhard Christoph Breitkopf. In the context of street names, the Breitkopfbecken serves as the center of the Jägerviertel neighborhood. The green space around the Breitkopfbecken is a listed garden monument.
