Description

Burg Saaleck invites you to experience history up close and to climb the West Tower – from here you have an impressive panoramic view of the surroundings. 🔭

In the East Tower, you will discover fascinating archaeological finds from wild horse hunters dating back around 15,000 years, transporting you to a long-gone era. In the West Tower, informative panels explain the history of the castle, from the Ekkehardinger counts and the bishops of Naumburg to modern times.

Burg Saaleck is part of the 'Road of Romanesque' – a cultural route that connects Romanesque buildings from the 10th to mid-13th century and highlights the Christianization of the region. This route is also part of the European Transromanica, which stretches from Germany through Italy, Austria to Slovenia and is recognized by the Council of Europe.
