Forststernwarte Jena
Description
The Forststernwarte Jena invites you to experience fascinating sky observations – even during the renovation of the Urania Observatory! 🔭
You can safely watch sunspots and gas eruptions on the sun’s surface through telescopes and marvel at the details of the moon’s craters and maria, which change appearance with the moon phases.
Observations of the phases of Venus, the moons of Jupiter, and the rings of Saturn are also possible. Even distant worlds like cosmic gas clouds, binary stars, star clusters, and neighboring galaxies millions of light years away can be discovered through the instruments.
The observatory was founded in 1909 by astronomy enthusiasts from the Zeiss factory and combines tradition with impressive views of the universe.
