Burgruine Frauenstein
Description
Burgruine Frauenstein is considered the oldest castle in Wiesbaden, built in 1184. Here you can walk in historic footsteps and discover a lot of history.
A special highlight: during opening hours, you can ask the castle's castellan how the exact construction year of 1184 was determined – an exciting, interactive way to learn more about the castle.
On the castle grounds, a rocky plateau invites you to enjoy a wonderful view over Frauenstein and the Rheinhessen region. This viewpoint is accessible even when parts of the castle are closed.
The renovation and opening of the castle were made possible by a citizens' initiative and generous donations, offering you a cultural experience supported by the community.
Since the completion of the restoration in 2002, large festivals have taken place here, with lively cultural events that are especially attractive for families. 🎉
