Description

The Burgruine Stolpen impresses as a medieval fortress on an extinct volcano – a historic site closely linked to Countess Cosel, who was imprisoned there for 49 years.

You can explore mysterious dungeons, historic castle towers like the Coselturm, and the distinctive Siebenspitzenturm. Each tower tells its own story and showcases unique architectural details.

A highlight is the deepest natural basalt stone well in the world, a rare geological attraction. From the Siebenspitzenturm, you’ll enjoy a spectacular panoramic view over Saxon Switzerland and the area around Stolpen.

The entire castle is made of basalt, a geological natural monument – here history and fascinating natural science come together to create a special experience.

Especially recommended for children aged 6 to 16. 🏰
