Description
In June 1905, F. Eduard Bilz opened the then "Licht-Luft-Bad" in Radebeul. According to his natural healing philosophy, people of all ages and backgrounds should be able to move freely and engage in sports there. A special attraction became the wave pool built in 1912, whose centerpiece, the wave machine by UNDOSA, was acquired by Bilz in 1911 at the International Hygiene Exhibition in Dresden. In the following years, sanitary and utility buildings, gymnasiums, tennis and ball courts, as well as a music pavilion, were constructed. In 1975, the Bilzbad had to be sold to the city of Radebeul at a minimal price. From 1992 to 1998, the facility was thoroughly renovated and remains an outdoor pool to this day.
