Description

The great local historian Max Förderreuther noted as late as 1929: "Traces from prehistoric times have been discovered so seldom in the Allgäu Alps that they are not enough to give us a picture of the first settlement of the region." Today, less than 100 years later, the situation is different. Not only have many traces of human activity come to light, but you can now also get a very vivid picture of prehistoric Allgäu: Early history comes alive in the new Steinzeitdorf - Bolsterlang at the Hörnerbahn.

Mesolithic. Admittedly, a complicated word. But one that promises exciting discoveries. Mesolithic means Middle Stone Age and it began here in the Alpine region roughly ten thousand years ago. That was a very long time ago, but even then people lived in the Allgäu. They wandered through the forests as hunters and gatherers and set up camp at suitable spots. Some of these summer camps were also found in the Bolgental valley, where many Stone Age tools were discovered.

To better imagine how Stone Age people lived, hunted, and worked, a Stone Age village is being set up during the summer at the middle station of the Hörnerbahn. With the help of tents and fire pits, a Stone Age drill, and a place for tanning leather, you can take a look into the everyday life of our distant ancestors. There is also a small adventure trail through the nearby woods where puzzle bandolinos, a Stone Age memory game, and a "prehistoric" musical instrument provide some fun. And you can try your hand as Indiana Jones at an "excavation site."

For events with Tobias Klöck, please register at the Bolsterlang tourist information at least one week before the event date. The tours last about two hours and are free for children holding the Hörnerdörfer Gästepass ».

Visiting the grounds and adventure forest is at your own risk; please supervise children according to their age.
