Der Wilde Berg Mautern – Wildlife Park & Family Adventure

Der Wilde Berg in Mautern combines wildlife, mountain scenery and plenty of play and action in the Styrian Alps. At around 1,100 metres above sea level, families can discover approximately 300 animals, including brown bears, wolves, lynx, ibex, bison, marmots, wildcats and various species of owls and birds of prey. Commentated feeding sessions offer another opportunity to learn more about the animals and their behaviour. 🐻🌲

One of the highlights is the approximately 35-minute bird-of-prey show, featuring eagles, owls, falcons and other impressive birds. Show times vary depending on the season and may change at short notice because of weather conditions or animal welfare.

Children can also explore a large play park with eight different attractions, including a giant slide, water play, a raft ride and an approximately 300-metre wooden marble run. Younger visitors can meet smaller animals at the children's farm, while the Kinder-Stadl offers suspension bridges, climbing elements, a tunnel slide and indoor craft and relaxation areas for days when the weather is less cooperative. 🛝

Families looking for more action can take the 1.2 km summer toboggan run down through the forest and meadows or try the 1.6 km Mountain Kart route. Some additional attractions require an extra fee and are weather-dependent.

Even getting up the mountain is part of the experience: visitors can take the chairlift above the animal enclosures or use the weatherproof, pushchair-friendly park bus. Restaurants on the mountain provide places to stop for a meal, snack or ice cream.

A varied full-day destination for families who want to combine wildlife, nature, outdoor play and adventure.
