Donaupark Deggendorf
Description
Danube Beach in Deggendorf
The Donaupark, covering about six hectares, is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Wander along the 500-meter-long Danube promenade, enjoy a fruity cocktail in the popular beach bar during the evening hours, and let your soul unwind.
For all sports enthusiasts, the beach volleyball court is ready in a picturesque setting right next to the Danube. The two playground areas, "Donauspiel" and "Weidenversteck," bring shining eyes to young guests. With around 2,000 square meters of play space and numerous activity and skill challenges, Deggendorf ranks among the top playground destinations in the region.
The Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge
The pedestrian and bicycle bridge was also built as part of the 2014 State Garden Show. At 456 meters long, it is one of the longest pedestrian and bicycle bridges in all of Europe. It serves as a connection to the right bank of the Danube and to the Natternberg recreational and sports area, linking the opposite shore with the elypso year-round pool and bathing ponds. The Danube is the second largest and second longest river in Europe.
Deggendorf Danube Festival
Every other summer, the Donaupark is the setting for the well-known "Deggendorf Danube Festival" – a top-class cultural celebration featuring live music, culinary specialties, as well as dance and sports events.
