Description

Groß-Gerau's most popular park, the Fasanerie, is located in the Dornberg district, right across from the ruins of Dornberg Castle. In the 1720s, the dukes of Darmstadt and other noble families from Hesse created the park as a hunting ground – including for pheasants – with some of the walls built from stones taken from the castle that had been destroyed a few years earlier.

Today, you'll find several playgrounds, walking paths, and a nature trail with informational signs in the Fasanerie. One tree in the park has even been designated a natural monument: along the main cross path stands a roughly 100-year-old pyramid oak about 30 meters tall. This green oasis is perfect for jogging, cycling, strolling, and day trips with children.
