Description

Fichtenberg, at 68 meters above sea level, is the highest point in the Steglitz district of Berlin. It lies between Schloßstraße and the Botanical Garden. The village of Stegelitze, first mentioned in 1242 and later called Steglitz, developed around the hill. Until around 1900, the hill was known as Kiefernberg. Before 1900, the term Steglitzer Fichtenberg commonly referred to the hills east of the village, which were later called Rauhe Berge.
