Description
Friedenspark, Leipzig is a green space of about 17.5 hectares located in the Zentrum-Südost district, part of the Mitte borough, roughly between Ostplatz to the north and the Russian Church to the south. Linnéstraße marks its western boundary. To the east are the Siegismund e. V. community gardens and the Samuel-Heinecke School for the hearing impaired. The park was opened in 1983 following the secularization of the Neuer Johannisfriedhof cemetery in 1971 and a thorough redesign of the area.
