Description
The Fürstlich Starhemberg'sche Familien- und Stadtmuseum offers varied exhibition rooms in a historic castle atmosphere. Especially impressive is the Ahnen Saal with over 50 life-size portraits – an atmospheric room that is also suitable for concerts. 🎭
In the Ahnen Saal there is a restored organ (formerly in the Alten Linzer Dom), which may have been played by Anton Bruckner. In the Porzellansaal display cases show Chinese, Japanese and old Viennese porcelain – colorful and delicate, ideal for children who like to look. 🏺
Other highlights are historic living rooms and objects such as a Renaissance tiled stove (1580), a Kassettendecke from Schloss Hartheim, the table at which tradition says Mozart composed parts of the Zauberflöte, as well as uniforms in the Kostümhalle and dramatic pieces in the Waffenhalle.
