Gärtner- und Häckermuseum Bamberg
Description
The Gärtner- und Häckermuseum Bamberg is the only museum in southern Germany dedicated to the life of urban vegetable and wine growers, their culture, and history. The museum is housed in a typical gardener's house from 1767 and invites you to explore the life of gardeners around 1900.
You can admire the variety of vegetable and herb species, learn about historical tools, and discover more about the religious customs related to gardening and winemaking.
The museum was completely redesigned in 2012 and presents its exhibits in a fresh layout. At the same time, it serves as a guardian of the intangible cultural heritage of the Federal Republic for gardener cultivation in Bamberg.
A special highlight is the blend of tradition and culture that comes alive here – perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about urban farming and its historical context.
