Gelebtes Museum
Description
Gelebtes Museum in Mähring vividly showcases life on the German-Czech border and the profound changes brought about by political decisions.
Especially impressive is the presentation of the vanished village of Lohhäuser with artifacts from the demolished settlement, offering an immersive insight into past life.
The permanent exhibition tells the story of how life at the border dramatically changed through historical events and political upheavals. A special focus is on the border opening in 1990, which reunited tens of thousands of people after more than 40 years of separation.
The museum is part of the museum network „das zwoelfer“ and was awarded the Oberpfalz Monument Prize in 2018.
