Description
The Gipsinformationszentrum Sulzheim features a permanent exhibition spanning about 100 m² in the historic former tithe barn of the Ebrach Monastery.
A spacious outdoor area made from over 100 tons of gypsum rock invites exploration: it includes an artificial gypsum hill with rare plants, historic quarry equipment, and a barefoot trail that especially appeals to families and children.
The extensive gypsum circular trail starting at the center offers fascinating insights into Sulzheim's regional landscape and provides a variety of nature and cultural experiences.
For children and teenagers aged 6 to 16, there is the workshop “Make Something out of Gypsum!” with a tour, gypsum casts, and optional painting – a hands-on highlight perfect for getting creative.
Guided tours for families complete the offerings: from a one-hour permanent exhibition visit, to a 1.5-hour combined outdoor and indoor tour, up to a 3.5-hour hike along the gypsum circular trail.
