Großer Bullensee

Großer Bullensee is located south of Rotenburg (Wümme), nestled charmingly in a forest area just adjacent to the Großes und Weißes Moor nature reserve. In summer, the official swimming lake invites you to swim and splash around. A non-swimmer area is marked off with a rope and buoys. This is a good idea since the lake is quite deep in the middle. During the swimming season, the DLRG keeps a watchful eye on guests over the weekend. Admission is free!

If you just want to enjoy the sun, you can simply take a seat on the long jetty or settle on the benches surrounding it. There is also a small playground right at the lake.

By the way, you can also enjoy a wonderful walk around the lake. There is even a moor nature experience zone (see the information board):

Nature experience hiking trails and the NORDPFAD Dör 't Moor

Right next to the lake is the Großes und Weißes Moor. This raised bog is protected, just like the "Kleine Bullensee," the smaller brother of the "Großer Bullensee."

To help you cross the moor without getting wet feet, the following four nature experience hiking trails have been created. These are marked by different colors.

Kleine Bullenseerunde (yellow dotted), approx. 1.5 km Große Bullenseerunde (green dotted), approx. 2.5 km Kleine Moorunde (blue dotted), approx. 7.5 km Große Moorunde (red dotted), approx. 11.5 km The Große Moorunde has been included in the NORDPFADE hiking trail concept: 24 circular routes that all run through the district of Rotenburg (Wümme). On site, this circular trail is called "NORDPFAD Dör' t Moor" and is marked accordingly. The shortcut version "Kleine Moorunde" is marked as a variant.

Moor zone

The moor zone is located southwest of Großer Bullensee. It offers several themed boards about the moor and many great spots to linger and observe.
