Gutspark Flachstöckheim

Description
In 1765, the park gate adorned with wrought iron vines bearing the initials of August Wilhelm von Schwicheldt was created. In 1821, the family transformed the park into an English garden. To restore the monument-protected ensemble of the manor house and park to its original form, the Municipal Operations Department (SRB) commissioned an expert in September 2006. The specialist developed a garden conservation and development plan in line with the site's heritage protection. Between 2008 and 2010, the park was extensively renovated and turned back into an English landscape park.
In a first construction phase from November 2008 to June 2009 and a second in 2010, the wall bordering the park's northern side was carefully restored by a specialist company on behalf of SRB Salzgitter. In 2009, the municipal department resurfaced the open-air stage with new natural stone slabs and renewed the lights in the park. In 2010, the paths in the park were renovated and given a new surface.
All of this was also made possible through the volunteer efforts of the Gutspark Förderverein (support association). Its members not only take care of maintaining the green spaces but also planted the plants provided by the SRB.
