Once a year, the small village of Wacken with its 1,800 residents is put into a state of emergency. The world’s biggest metal festival, Wacken Open Air, attracts more than 100,000 visitors to this peaceful place. This leads to wonderful encounters between locals and festival goers, which shape the festival’s unique character.
