Description

Heimat- und Grimmelshausenmuseum offers a fascinating multimedia and interactive permanent exhibition about the Baroque author Hans Jacob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, his time, and his lasting literary influence.

The exhibition invites you to explore exciting features like animations, puzzles, audio stations, and video clips – perfect for Grimmelshausen fans and anyone curious about this special era and its literature.

Hans Jacob Christoffel von Grimmelshausen, one of the first major German-language world authors, lived in Oberkirch for nearly 20 years and wrote his bestseller Simplicissimus here.

Upstairs, the museum presents the history of the town and the Renchtal region with displays on crafts, agriculture, industry, and customs, vividly illustrated through models of Oberkirch and the historic Schauenburg.

Special tours for groups can be booked outside regular opening hours to make the experience even more memorable.
