Description

The Heimatmuseum Oberstdorf is housed in a historic Allgäu mountain farmhouse from the 17th century and unfolds the fascinating story of the region across 37 lovingly designed rooms.

In the authentically preserved living room setting, you can discover how families used to do crafts together and share stories – a very special atmosphere to dive into.

  • The highlight is the world’s largest handmade leather ski boot by Josef Schratt on display.

  • You will learn about the devastating fire of 1865 and the founding of the local volunteer fire department.

  • You'll also get to know Oberstdorf’s pioneering history in sports and mountaineering – from climbing and skiing to legendary ski jumping.

For children and teenagers between 6 and 15 years old, there are exciting tours for groups of 5 to 15 people that bring history to life in an engaging and vivid way.
