Description

Heimatmuseum Wertingen invites you to experience history up close – all within an impressive historic castle dating from the 14th to 17th century.

The museum showcases a diverse collection of fascinating objects: from Neolithic finds from the region to tools and craftsmanship from past centuries, as well as decorative rural furniture, folk costumes, and sacred art.

Especially captivating is the timeline exhibit at the entrance, which brings history to life with about 40 displays spanning from around 15,000 BC to today. You can even hear local dialect words from residents at the listening station 🎧.

Selected favorite pieces chosen by the museum staff offer extra insights and connect objects with each other, so you can discover history from new perspectives.

  • Historical single items like a wooden loom from the 17th century

  • Late Gothic sculpture of Saint Vitus

  • Celtic iron rod from around the time of Christ's birth

  • Wooden skis from the 1930s and a roll film camera from 1929
