Description

The Holzknechtmuseum takes you on a multimedia journey back in time to the authentic working world of the woodcutters and showcases over 400 years of history in social and economic forest work.

The barrier-free main building spans three floors of exhibitions, inviting you to explore interactively through a modern and intuitive permanent display. You'll learn how the woodcutters lived and worked and how their role in society and the environment evolved.

Outside, original woodcutter huts from the surrounding mountain forests await – these once served as homes and sleeping places for the forest workers. Themed hiking trails offer plenty to discover and marvel at.

Especially exciting are the current special exhibitions featuring alpine themes like "Simply Alpine" and "Through Snow and Ice", which are included with museum admission. A dedicated media room also shows a detailed film offering many perspectives on the museum's work.

Families appreciate the museum as a great place for all ages: informative, entertaining, and perfect for learning more about the ancestors and lives of the forest workers.
