Museum Wassermühle Höfgen

Description
At the Museum Wassermühle Höfgen, you can experience firsthand how a historic water mill was powered by its water wheel from the local stream. The original mill machinery still works and invites you to marvel at it.
You can explore the inside of the mill on your own or join guided tours to learn how the technology once operated and how hard the millers’ lives were. Especially vivid are the lovingly furnished rooms of the miller’s apartment upstairs, featuring historic carved figures from 1704.
Right behind the mill, you’ll find a fragrant herb garden and old fruit trees, which together with the cozy beer garden set in green nature create a pleasant atmosphere. There is a playground for children, so the whole family can enjoy their visit.
The historic inn combines regional tradition with modern ideas and treats you to freshly prepared, creative dishes made from high-quality local ingredients. Once a month, fresh miller’s bread is even baked here in the historic oven, offered by the local mill association.
In addition to regular museum visits, special seasonal activities are offered for children and families, such as the autumn holiday program “First come, first mill”, which playfully conveys the mill’s 300-year history.
