Museumshafen Oevelgönne is a lively place full of historic ships that are not only restored and maintained but also actively operated – here you experience maritime history up close and alive.

You can explore sailing ships, steamships, and historic motor vessels up close. Especially exciting are the rides on the historic ships, whether under sail, steam, or motor, where volunteer crews share stories about the technology and life at sea.

At the so-called Open-Ship events, you have the opportunity to board the ships, explore them from the inside, ask questions, and talk directly with the volunteers – a great way to experience history vividly and clearly.

The museum harbor is not a static museum but a living monument to North German and Hamburg shipping history, cared for and brought to life by volunteers.

A free mobile audio guide at 19 stations leads you through the harbor and shares exciting stories – ideal for families who want to explore on their own.
