Nationalpark-Station "Wattwurm" am Meldorfer Hafen
Description
A hub for the curious
On former mudflats, the Meldorfer-Speicherkoog now offers breeding and resting sites for a wide variety of bird species within nature reserves. At the Nationalpark-Station "Wattwurm," we are happy to explain the nature in the Koog and out in the Wadden Sea National Park. The Wattwurm is a contact and information point in the Speicherkoog. The Nationalpark-Station "Wattwurm" is an exhibition building whose semicircular shape is inspired by a real lugworm and which impresses with its fantastic location, just a few hundred meters from the dike and centrally located in the Speicherkoog between the Elpersbüttel bathing area and the New Meldorfer Harbor. Admission to the exhibition is free. The Wattwurm serves as the starting point for various guided tours. In addition, next to the building there is a nature trail where you can admire orchids in early summer.
