Naturfreibad Gemündener Maar

Description
The Gemündener Maar, an impressive natural outdoor pool in the Eifel, is the northernmost and smallest of the three Dauner Maars. With a length of 325 meters and a width of 300 meters, the maar lake spans an area of about 7.2 hectares. For diving enthusiasts, the outdoor pool offers a 1-meter diving board as well as a diving tower with heights ranging from 3.0 to 7.5 meters. The water depth under the tower is about 4 meters and increases significantly toward the center of the maar. Additional facilities include a climbing wall, a non-swimmer pool, a baby pool, a sandbox, and a swimming island. For people with physical disabilities, there is a water lift as well as wheelchair-accessible showers and toilets. The use of watercraft such as stand-up paddleboards is prohibited by order of the local nature conservation authority, except for community-owned pedal boats and rowboats. Gemündener Maar thus offers a variety of recreational options set within an impressive natural landscape.
