Naturkundemuseum Reutlingen
Description
Naturkundemuseum Reutlingen showcases the natural history of the region, offering fascinating insights into the landscapes, animal and plant life, as well as geology and earth history.
Housed in a modernized, restored half-timbered building dating back to 1728, the permanent exhibition spans three floors with many stations that bring the diversity of local nature to life.
You’ll learn that Reutlingen stands on a geological foundation 190 million years old and that a 14-million-year-old volcano lies nearby. Particularly exciting are the traditional orchards, which provide a habitat for over 5,000 species, and the juniper heaths of the Swabian Alb, a cultural landscape that is still being maintained.
The museum offers a comprehensive program for children, including birthday parties for kids aged 4 to 9 🌿. Themed events such as mineral legends and experiments, wildlife discoveries, and nature art inspire hands-on participation.
There are also intriguing special exhibitions on nature photography, geology, the effects of fire in nature, and other natural topics – often accompanied by guided tours and expert lectures.
