Description

Covering an impressive 141,000 square meters, Naturschutzgebiet Entenfang is a true natural paradise in Wesseling. Visitors looking for relaxation can enjoy many ways to escape everyday life: whether grilling, exercising, walking, or simply relaxing and doing nothing. The off-leash dog area also provides plenty of space for four-legged friends. At the edge of the recreational area stands the historic Entenfangschlösschen. Originally used as a hunting lodge by the provosts of St. Gereon and built around 1650 under Provost Maximilian Heinrich, it now serves as a municipal preschool.

For leisure activities, there is a playground, a large water play area, sports fields with soccer goals and basketball hoops, as well as a skate park featuring a parkour course and slackline. The digital fitness course completes the sports offerings. Especially noteworthy are the barrier-free facilities of the parkour course and water play area, which are also accessible for wheelchair users.

Formerly a duck pond owned by Elector Clemens August, the Naturschutzgebiet has, over the years, developed into an important resting habitat for migrating waterfowl. Since 1969, this area has been protected as a nature reserve. An observation platform invites you to experience the diverse birdlife up close and inspires nature lovers alike to visit.
