Description

Sandtorpark is a small park located in the Am Sandtorpark/Grasbrook neighborhood within the HafenCity district in Hamburg-Mitte. Until the 1960s, the current park area was part of the Sandtor harbor, which gave its name to the park. Sandtorpark is the first newly developed park in HafenCity and was officially opened in April 2011. Covering around 6,000 square meters, it is the smallest park in HafenCity, surrounded by new buildings of nearby companies, the Katharinenschule school, and an adjacent daycare center. The architectural landmark is a 13-story elliptical tower right next to the park. The park was designed by the architectural firm EMBT Arquitectes Associats from Barcelona.
