Schiffahrtsmuseum Nordfriesland
Description
Right at the Husum harbor is the Schiffahrtsmuseum Nordfriesland. Over four floors, you can learn more about whaling and fishing, shipbuilding, and navigation.
At the Schiffahrtsmuseum in Husum, you'll find an extensive collection focused on maritime topics. Exhibition items in every room are accompanied by explanatory texts in four languages (German, Danish, English, and French). Especially impressive is the wreck known as the "Zuckerschiff" from Uelvesbüll. This 400-year-old cargo sailing ship was recovered in 1996 from the mudflats near Uelvesbüll. It stands for the many ships that sank in the North Sea's waves. The outdoor area includes historic buoys, anchors, ship parts, and the more than 100-year-old buoy tender "Hildegard" – a popular photo spot at Husum harbor overlooking the harbor mile.
