Description

Schloss Herzberg offers you a small cultural center with a café-restaurant, museum, and the impressive knights' hall for a variety of cultural events.

The museum tells exciting stories about forestry in the Harz region, the history of the castle, and the Welf dynasty. This also includes exhibitions about the Herzberg rifle factory and the organ builder Johann Andreas Engelhardt.

Special highlights are the facsimile of Heinrich the Lion's Gospel Book, models of Schloss Herzberg and Scharzfels, as well as the restored Welf cradle from the 16th century – a unique historical piece.

There is also a small exhibition on the constructed language Esperanto and regular special exhibitions that keep every visit varied.

In summer 2023, four original paintings by members of the Welf dynasty will permanently enrich the knights' hall. Families can also look forward to exciting dramatized castle tours, like those held most recently on International Museum Day 2019.
