Schloss Neuenbürg
Description
At Schloss Neuenbürg, you will discover a fascinating blend of regional history, art, and fairy tales – perfect for the whole family. The castle houses a branch of the Baden State Museum featuring a multimedia exhibition on the fairy tale “The Cold Heart” by Wilhelm Hauff, told through six striking scenes.
Especially exciting is the exhibit on the history of rafting in the northern Black Forest, presenting impressive artifacts from the La Tène period and the Middle Ages. Annual special exhibitions, including works by cartoonist Peter Gaymann and photographer Frank Kunert, complement the program.
The former castle chapel, St. George's Church, impresses with valuable wall paintings from the 14th century, depicting scenes from the lives of Christ, Mary, and the Last Judgment – true treasures of the region.
In the spacious castle park, covering about 7000 m², multi-day sculpture symposiums take place regularly, where artists create their sculptures live – a great experience for children and parents alike.
The museum also invites families to interactive exhibitions about fairy tales, myths, and heroic legends, such as the show “Fascination Dragons”, which sparked great enthusiasm in 2018. Here, art, history, and stories come together in entertaining and exciting ways.
