Zoologischer Stadtgarten Karlsruhe
Description
The Zoologischer Stadtgarten Karlsruhe is a family-friendly green oasis in the middle of the city, inviting visitors to relax, observe, and explore.
For little explorers, there are interactive and colorful plant gardens, a scent and touch garden, a hedge garden, an adventure playground, and a petting zoo with adorable Forsthofer miniature pigs. The Gondoletta boats allow for a leisurely tour of the zoo grounds from the water.
The zoo is actively involved in protecting endangered species and participates in international breeding programs as well as local and global conservation projects. Especially exciting is the successful reintroduction project of the Waldrapp, where 35 chicks were raised in 2023.
For nature lovers, there are also fascinating lectures on topics like animal evolution and species conservation, for example on wasteland grasshoppers by Prof. Dr. Martin Husemann.
