Description

At Schmetterlingsfarm Steinhude, you'll find a fascinating natural habitat with around 400 tropical butterflies from about 40 species 🦋. Here you can watch the exciting stages of their life cycle – from eggs to caterpillars to chrysalises – and see live each day until about 1 PM how the butterflies hatch.

The farm breeds many exotic species itself, including the swallowtail, morpho (blue morpho), passion butterfly, banana butterfly, and the impressive atlas moth, which fly freely in the butterfly hall.

The tropical hall is full of colorful butterflies from South America, Africa, and Asia, searching for nectar among exotic plants like orchids, hibiscus, banana plants, and passionflowers.

Right next door, the world insect museum showcases a variety of colorful butterflies, beetles, arachnids, and insects. The insect zoo cares for large beetles, walking sticks, tarantulas, and scorpions in naturalistic habitats from South America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.

  • An insect theater offers special sensory experiences.

  • A dark chamber with zodiac pillars.

  • Museum shop with exciting souvenirs.
