Description

The local history museum Schwarzes Tor is housed in an authentic Black Forest farmhouse dating back to 1803 – an original historical setting awaits you.

Experience life in the 19th century up close: from the bedroom with small beds hinting at the shorter stature of that era, to a historic kitchen with old cooking utensils, and to the cozy farmer's parlor that served as a precursor to today’s living room, helping children especially understand past ways of living.

A highlight is the clock room featuring a workshop and an impressive collection of clocks from the 17th to the 19th century – here the famous Black Forest clockmaking tradition comes alive.

Traditional Black Forest crafts such as straw weaving and basket making showcase the cultural side of the Black Forest and offer fascinating insights to watch and explore hands-on.
