Seehundstation Friedrichskoog

Description
At Seehundstation Friedrichskoog, you can observe the two native seal species of the German Wadden Sea all year round – harbor seals and grey seals. Housing both harbor and grey seals together is unique in Germany. Visitors learn a lot about the biology of seals and the various roles of the Seehundstation.
The harbor and grey seals that live permanently at the station can be watched in the naturally designed pools both on land and underwater. The underwater window allows you to dive into their world, and the interactive exhibition "Seals of the World" completes the experience.
Seehundstation Friedrichskoog is the only authorized center in Schleswig-Holstein for receiving seals that have been found abandoned, weakened, or sick. Raising young harbor seals – called "weaners" – that have permanently lost contact with their mothers during nursing season is a key part of the station’s work in summer. Visitors are not allowed in the entire nursery area but can get a good view from the observation deck and from the "seal’s eye view" in the new exhibition building.
The Seehundstation looks forward to your visit and the support it brings.
