Description
Stadtpark in Bernau near Berlin was created in the 17th century when parts of the city walls were leveled and ditches filled in. Trees, shrubs, and grass grew in the natural area. It served as a pasture and was commonly called the enclosure. The transformation into a park happened in the 19th century. The cleared areas were used as a municipal wagon yard, an open-air stage, a nursery, and a school garden. A playground has been preserved.
