Description

Taxispark is a 13-hectare area in the Munich district of Gern, which was dedicated to recreation for people with disabilities after World War I. It is owned by the Free State of Bavaria. Part of the original site, now separated, houses the Taxisgarten, a Munich beer garden opened in 1924, whose lease helped fund the recreational facilities managed by the Association for the Recreation of War and Physically Disabled in Munich. Since the lease was terminated by the Bavarian Administration of State Palaces, Gardens and Lakes in 2007, the remaining section with recreational facilities was unused. The garden was temporarily open to the public between July 2016 and April 2017. Afterwards, it underwent a complete redesign into a green space called Taxispark, which opened in January 2018.
