Wellblechpalast
Description
Wellblechpalast has been the official name of the ice rink at the Hohenschönhausen Sports Forum in Berlin since October 7, 2001. Until the end of the 2007/08 DEL season, it was home to the Eisbären Berlin hockey team. Today, the arena hosts the youth teams as well as the women's and men's teams of the Eisbären Juniors Berlin. Currently, the Wellblechpalast officially holds 4,695 spectators, with 1,600 seated. Eisbären Berlin still occasionally use the arena for games when the Uber Arena is unavailable or when the Champions Hockey League games draw fewer spectators and the larger venue would be too big. In addition, the Wellblechpalast serves as the main training facility for Eisbären Berlin. Other Berlin clubs have also used the arena at times, such as the Berliner Schlittschuhclub or FASS Berlin. The hall, completed in 1964, is operated by the city of Berlin.
