Zoo am Meer mit Nordsee-Aquarium

Description
Right by the dike, you'll encounter fascinating residents through floor-to-ceiling glass panels. The tour through Zoo am Meer, home to a total of 1,100 animals from 120 species, starts with the chimpanzee troop and continues past the zoo's favorites – polar bears, seals, penguins & co. The Otter family scurries about with seemingly endless energy in their enclosure, while the pumas lounge relaxedly on their spots by the glass.
Valuable information about the animals and their habitats helps you understand why preserving biodiversity is so important.
A highlight: The North Sea Aquarium with nine tanks full of impressive marine creatures such as cat sharks, wolf fish, seahorses, and octopuses. Fascinating insights into habitats and biodiversity make your visit unforgettable.
At Zoo am Meer in Bremerhaven, important topics like species conservation and biodiversity are presented in an engaging way – through guided tours, zoo school, and events.
For kids, the adventure playground offers pure fun: The zoo’s focus on water-related and Nordic animals is reflected in the playground’s design. There's a stranded ship, whose overturned bow is used as a rabbit hutch. Due to limited space, the ship’s wheelhouse is built on stilts, with the visitor path passing underneath. From the raised wheelhouse platform, a suspension bridge leads to the kea enclosure, providing a special view. The elevation changes in the zoo have been used for a climbing course followed by a slide. Older children also enjoy climbing and balancing on the playground.
While the little ones play, you can enjoy the sea view and your impressions with a cup of coffee. Daily feedings also offer exciting insights.
Come by and discover a world full of wonders, right by the sea!
