Altötting Lantern Walk

In the icy cold New Year, when chilly winds knock at the warm door of your home, the district town of Altötting invites you to a truly reflective evening under the open sky. The Altötting Lantern Walk will once again shine in the Gries area. Around 1,200 candles in glass jars will romantically illuminate the city’s nearby recreation area on the west side. On the east side, colorful spotlights transform the trees and bushes into mystical sculptures. And once again this year, the event will keep sustainability in mind by reusing the glasses and candles from last year.

In collaboration with Bruckmayer Mühlenladen, the Vereinigte Sportschützengesellschaft shooting club, and Ming’s Lounge, a hearty food and drink selection will be offered. Grilled sausages, mulled wine, and hot cocktails will warm your stomach and cold hands.

Parking is available at the Wöhrstraße parking lot or at the Schützenhaus on Herrenmühlstraße (Gries 2).

In case of bad weather, the backup date is January 16, 2026.
