Before the invention of modern refrigeration technology in the 19th century, storing natural ice in ice cellars was the only way to have ice available for cooling products or manufacturing processes even during the warmer seasons. The rock cellar of the Hendrichs Brewery in Radberg in the southeast of the city is an impressive multi-part facility with a rich and varied history.
Program: Information about the rock cellar based on plans and archival materials. Guided tours through the rock cellar. Bat protection measures in the rock cellar.
For children: Family tours at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
Catering: The Eifelverein offers vegetarian vegetable soup with bread and an optional sausage, as well as drinks and cake.
Please note: Parking directly at the rock cellar is not allowed. Please use public parking lots (paid). Please follow the designated route inside the cellar. Entry only during guided tours.
