Archaeology Tour Nordeifel 2026: Surprises beneath the Soccer Field

The meadows at Burg Blankenheim are now a popular play and soccer area for the youth hostel. What is no longer visible at first glance is revealed by modern technology: in the 18th century, a Baroque garden with a fountain stretched here across several terraces, fed by water from the late medieval Tiergartentunnel pipeline. However, structural remains can still be detected in the terrain with a trained eye.
